Larimar, Jewel of the West, is a vast country ruled by the One King. The royal family has been in power for longer than anyone can remember, and the current king, Elkar the Just is a wise and benevolent ruler. Larimar is bounded on two sides by mountains, on one by the sea, and on the fourth by a great chasm carved into the land eons ago. The country is divided into five provinces, Myrana, Deirburn, Riardin, Ereyin, and Calshin. Each province is ruled by a king-appointed governor. The king travels between provinces, spending a year in each. A great royal procession occurs every five years, in which the king travels to each province and major city in his kingdom. The provinces vary in culture and geography, with each bringing something different to the country as a whole.
Trade and commerce thrive in Larimar, both between provinces and neighboring lands. Silks and spices come from the burning sands of Khazad while elaborate craftsmanship comes from the Elvish lands of Corwyn. Spices and exotic goods come from the islands of J’nisi, and the ships that travel back and forth are well received. No trade comes from the north, for beyond the Dragonspine Mountains lies a frozen wasteland, littered with tribes of orcs that cross the mountains in summer to raid villages.
